The ADVANCE Study is an innovative, prospective cohort study and the first of its kind in the UK military casualty population. It has been set up to evaluate the clinical, biological, and psychosocial outcomes of a cohort of 1,000+ UK battlefield casualties. As a lifetime cohort study, ADVANCE offers a uniquely comprehensive description of the long-term outcomes of blast and other battlefield trauma.

The ADVANCE study will investigate veterans’ long-term health and welfare, learning from their challenges so that, where possible, the knowledge acquired can support the best care possible for present and future injured service personnel. It will facilitate learning for future conflicts and enable appropriate support to be offered to injured service personnel and their families.

This study is a collaboration between the Academic Department of Military Rehabilitation (ADMR, Stanford Hall), Imperial College London and King’s College London.
