With a Research Collaborations grant under the International Science Partnerships Fund we are creating the first AI-powered tool for the integrated design of seismically resilient, digitally manufactured hybrid timber-GFRC housing structures in Turkey.

We are joining forces with the Universidad del Bío-Bío to develop a modular building system combining cross-laminated timber (CLT) walls and hollow concrete panels to serve the local mid-rise marked with improved serviceability, fire and seismic performance.

The "ERIES-TRUST: Truly resilient timber buildings" project will test for the first time large-scale seismically resilient rocking structures equipped with inerters.

The Emerging Structural Technologies group, in collaboration with Profs Nanos (Portsmouth) and Pei (Mines), are trialing an innovative, low-cost wireless seismic monitoring system in the tallest full-scale building ever to be tested on an earthquake simulator (NEHRI Tallwood project).
