This applied and interactive workshop will allow participants to critically analyse the use of generative AI, namely Large Language Models (LLMs), in the research process, taking into account the Imperial guidelines.
Course Information:
In preparation for this workshop participants will be asked to complete a simple task (max 1 hour). During the workshop (3 hours), participants will work in stages on how to:
- approach the preparation of a literature review, supported by LLMs;
- critically analyse the related output produced by LLMs;
- incorporate the critically analysed output into your literature review.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, you will be better able to:
- identify the institutional rules regarding the use of Generative AI.
- recognise the strengths and limitations of LLMs as tools for supporting the writing process.
- write prompts for a LLM to elicit useful information on a specified technical topic.
- critique the output of an LLM.
