The topic of AI, climate and sustainability is coming up more and more often, and we see fantastic opportunities for new research in the future. Please join this internal meeting to help guide the work that we can do at Imperial on these topic areas, stay in the loop on emerging funding opportunities, connect with researchers across Imperial, and explore the potential for new collaborations.
This event is held as part of the Data & AI 4 Climate Lab– an interdisciplinary group that brings together data, AI and climate experts from around Imperial, hosted by the Data Science Institute and the Grantham Institutes.
Agenda Outline
12:00-12:30 – Lunch and networking
12:30-1:00 – Welcome and context-setting from Data & AI 4 Climate Lab Co-Founders and from the Directors of the new Schools of Convergence Science in Sustainability and Human & Artificial Intelligence.
1:00-2:30 – Flash talks – 1 slide per person to showcase Imperial research expertise, current projects and future aspirations.
2:30-3:00 – Group discussion and closing.
This meet-up is an opportunity to:
- Stay in the loop on emerging funding opportunities
- Connect with other Imperial researchers working on related challenges
- Explore ideas for new collaborations
- Help guide the direction of the Data & AI 4 Climate Lab at Imperial
This event is for researchers interested in:
- Using AI and data to solve climate and sustainability challenges
- Improving the sustainability of AI and data science practices themselves
Both areas are critical and we welcome contributions from across disciplines and domains, including urban systems, nature, energy, and transport.
Bring 1 slide about your work
During the session we would like to hear from participants, to scope out the research going on at Imperial in these areas. For this please prepare 1 slide including the problems you’re tackling in your work, the solutions you’re working on, the methods you’re using and any ideas you have for future collaborations.
