Student partnership has been very important to us in the PVB team. We have designed many of our sessions with student input and continue to seek and respond to student feedback in the design of our teaching materials.

"Working with the PVB team on developing student portfolios as part of the StudentShapers program was really fulfilling. While analyzing current learning outcomes and designing opportunities for students to showcase professional skills, we truly learnt the impact of training more rounded doctors. We enjoyed improving current provisions to better assess skills such as team work, empathy and communication. Apart from our main objective, the team really took on board suggestions to amend summative assessments, making student learning easier and more meaningful. It was a pleasure to work with the team, and truly enriching for our own learning."

“I really enjoyed working with the PVB team as a StudentShaper. The team was incredibly welcoming, and it was very special to have the opportunity to work on teaching I had received behind the scenes. We worked on a variety of materials from communication scenarios to Quality Improvement teaching and videos to learn more about different specialities. I learnt a lot about the practicalities and creativity in medical education which has inspired me to pursue it further and we had the opportunity to continue some of our work through research and evaluation. I hope we have made useful changes that future students will benefit from."

Medical Education Elective
With the Lifestyle Medicine and Population Health team we host an elective in Medical Education.
The elective aims to introduce students to the academic discipline of Medical Education and give them a broad understanding of the development, delivery, and evaluation of undergraduate teaching across the medical curriculum.

Student choice placement
In Phase 3a, students are given the opportunity to complete a medical education placement with us. This aims to give students an opportunity to input on their curriculum over a three-week placement.
